I dont use wicd-curses much, but there is an upstream report I found:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/wicd/+bug/1075399

I added a comment there.

Yeah, as long as wicd-curses works I'm happy. I'll add that the bug is affecting me as well there. Thanks all!

Well, I've downgraded wicd to 1.7.2.4 and urwid to 1.2.2, and it all seems to work here. As before, testing is appreciated:

Seems to work here on a Salix VM (not booted into Slackware atm, will report if it does not work there).

Got it; it needed new sg3_utils, and I went ahead and grabbed new lsscsi too while I was there.

how about newer "less"?
The latest stable is 458, although 471 is available (still considered beta though)

Strangely enough, I can't get wicd-curses to save network settings with these packages. Not sure what changed from the wicd-1.7.2.4 that is currently in the Slackware tree ...

I've got 458 queued up.

Well, hell, wicd can just be left alone then, and urwid too. This is why we can't have nice things. ;-)

Ha! So true, I'll keep a watch on that upstream bug report and keep you apprised. ;-)

GCC 4.8.4 is out, unless Pat is looking at GCC 4.9.x. Also will NetworkManager 1.0 include `nmtui`?

elyk 12-30-2014 06:14 PM

I see that ImageMagick 6.9.0-2 is out. I haven't tried it, but hopefully they've fixed the problems preventing it from working with Octave.

Pat follows gcc, so he'll pick up whichever of those is best. Re NM, yeah, we'll get nmtui with 1.0 - it just needs the newer readline-6.x (which is queued locally along with the numerous rebuilds required).
