slackpkg wont update

Evening all.
Last night i finally got round to make my time correct - it's always been an hour out, and thanks to a post by Onebuck (i think), in another thread I got the right time (i'm in the UK). So all well and good...

Today,I tried "slackpkg update", and it came back with
Code:

ERROR: Verification of the  gpg signature on CHECKSUMS.md5
failed! This could mean that the file is out of date
                      or has been tampered with.

i googled this message and it pointed me to this thread:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-error-765681/

however, when i type date i get this:
Code:

bash-3.1$ date
Mon Sep 13 19:55:31 BST 2010

which is correct for me. Not sure what to do now.
any ideas anyone?

As always, many thanks in advance,

Tom

Have you tried a different mirror in /etc/slackpkg/mirrors?

GazL 09-13-2010 03:55 PM

I pull from mirrorservice.org (uk) which has been acting weird all weekend. 'current' hasn't been updated since the 6th and rsync has retrieved the same set of packages for stable several times over the weekend. I'm just sitting tight waiting for the mirror to sort itself out. I'm sure it'll settle down within a day or so. Perhaps the mirror you're using is also a bit dodgy at the moment.

cheers Gaz (again)
mine appears to be ftp.mirrorservice.org (for 13.0).
i'll guess i'll wait for stuff to sort itself out.

Thanks again
tom

Okay, it doesnt seem to be "sorting itself out". I no longer get the error in my first post, but after a "slackpkg upgrade-all", i get a message basically saying nothing to update.
I dont believe this as I've had 6 emails from the slack security team saying there are updates.

How can i tell if my mirror's knackered?

cheers,
tom

I used to use mirrorservice.org, but had problems - including it being late with updates - so I switched to using one of the US mirrors: tds.net, and that's been OK.

thanks everyone.
mirror changed and it's updating :)

cheers again,

tom

mirrorservice.org has been ok for me till now. It's normal for updates pat does first thing in the morning US time to take an extra day to get here due to timezone issues and the nightly update, but it's always been reliable for me. That is, until this weekend. It's still lagging behind on the 64-current mirror for some reason.

If it doesn't sort itself out this evening then I may have to look for an alternative.
