I have both Private Internet Access and TorGuard VPN services. In Slackware I prefer to use the .ovpn files and connect through network manager or the command line. Both have been working fine, with PIA connecting is almost immediate. However today I tried to connect to any PIA server and the connection would fail and time out. After some digging I was able to confirm that it is openssl-3.3.0 that is causing the issue. When I downgrade the openssl packages to 3.2.1 PIA immediately connects and starts working. Oddly enough TorGuard is not affected. I am now combing through the openssl github page to try to find the committ that caused this. But I was just wondering if anyone else on here is having issues with their VPN after the 3.3.0 upgrade?

Yeah it is odd since it only is affecting PIA. My TorGuard files are connecting fine. I opened a ticket with PIA support and all I got is "sorry we don't support Slackware or connecting with ovpn files, glad you got it working with openssl-3.2.1". It is not the end of the world, I have the SR-IOV function of my network card enabled and I am passing through the virtual functions to my various VM's and can connect with PIA on my Slackware-15.0 VM just fine. I also use the official app on my windows VM. I am just trying to find the connection between OpenSSL-3.3.0 and PIA that is causing the problem.

At least you received a response. When I reported a similar problem a few months ago, I had no response at all. I was pretty unimpressed but luckily my subscription was just about due for renewal and I just let it lapse.

Maybe a long shot, but as reported here a while back (for example https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...op-4175723882/), problems with NordVPN suddenly came about because login details linked to an account needed to be converted and it was these converted versions that had to be used with openvpn scripts to successfully access their vpn (also via Network Manager).

Only after login into the account on their website, these converted versions could be obtained. It turned out, despite of pages long discussions that it all came down to this. Check whether something like this happened with PIA.
