new install acting funny (lilo and firefox-sound)
Hmm, ok, i'm on a new 10.1 install at the moment.. Lilo loads fine, but as soon as i select my OS, it says
boot: Loading ................................ displays 38 dots, but REALLY slowly.. takes about 15/20 seconds for that.. and then it moves on to load slack. In my old laptop, that procedure used to take a split second. I took the same kernel config from there, changed a few things (cpu and chipset type) and that's it.. everything else works like a charm. But am i missing anything? And firefox.. sheesh.. this is new. Every link i go to, i get a weird buzzing sound from my speakers, like "BZZZWP!". I'm on XFce, and i don't see anywhere to edit or disable sounds from firefox or xfce .. Any suggestions? EDIT lol.. the sound is form the NoScript extension.. that's solved :) But still .. lilo is confusing me. Thanks. |
Try adding compact option in lilo.conf and re-run lilo.
Just add a line with: compact :) |
Edit
hmm, after second restart, now it worked.. Thanks =) |
