Networking Slack to Windows XP
Ok i just wanted to start off saying i havnt been on here in the longest time! I like the new lay out looks good!!!:)
Ok now i have a slack box current hooked up to a wireless router with a windows xp box down stairs using the wireless card. My question is it possible to use desktop helper thing from the slack box to the windows box? meaning can i "help" them downstairs from my computer? like controll the desktop? also i tried setting this up but windows doesnt like it sharing from the slack to the windows? Like when i try to get a file from the windows box i can only see the name of the computer it wont let me see the tree? I hope this makes sense????? Matt |
Hi,
I have the same sort of set up, I use rdesktop from linuxpackages.net . This emulates the windows remote desktop, rather than the 'helper' you wanted, you also have to set up the XP machine to allow incoming connections. Good luck, Andy |

but for rdesktop which is really great tool, you have to run "Terminal Services" on your Windows. M. |
Thanks! Ill give it a try!
