trying to get neverwinter nights diamond gog and neverwinter nights 2 gog
installed in slackware 14.2 64bit
got multi lib wine 2.8 alien bob package.
tried running playonlinux but it doesnt seem to find python 2 though it is installed just 64 bit package I believe.
can get both games to install via wine.
would like to get nwn diamond installed natively ie no wine.
cannot find much slackware specific help on net on that just ubuntu or debian.
I spend a lot of time gaming on Slackware and although I used to install and use playonlinux, I didn't even bother to install POL on 14.2 Multilib. Wine itself has evolved so far that I find POL to be superfluous and, often, a complicating obstacle to just getting Wine right. I use Dugan's install script to get Wine-Staging and have for about a year now and everything works great, at least on games WineHQ AppDB reports any success. My recommendation is to just get Wine satisfied and working or spend a few bucks on Codeweavers.
Note: FWIW I also have Native Steam and Wine Steam, but modern Wine is greatly preferred as Steam games can be a nightmare to troubleshoot and updates routinely break it.
sh-4.3$ wine nwn2.exe

Sometimes with wine you have to install directx and some other libraries in playonlinux to get something to install. Also with PlayOnLinux you can get the latest wine version to play the game with. I've got several versions of 32 bit and 64 bit wine installed with PlayOnLinux. You can install libraries like directx full install, so you can create a trick out a virtual drive in PlayOnLinux and install to it using Configuration->Miscellaneous->"Run .exe file in this virtual drive." I don't use the installer scripts that comes with PlayOnLinux much.

Has any one in here built the wine WOW64 I have and have very good luck with it. for games. it is a 64 bit build and a 32 bit build that is put together. If you want to game with steam use the 32 bit select windows xp and or want ever it wants for.
For Xfinity tv on playonlinux 32 bit virtual drive configure for xp only install firefox 52 32 bit and flashplayer for fire fox.
for a true 32 bit and 64 bit shared build like windows you can build it from my git.
git clone https://github.com/Drakeo/WineWoW-SlackBuild
tried running 32dev.sh
still getting 64bit package
tried running ARCH=i486
nm not using it right. going to try the right way.
anyone know how to install Neverwinter Nights Diamond GOG edition ?
prefer to use it without wine or windows which seems do able though yet to see slackware specific instructions.
There doesn't seem to be a linux build of Neverwinter Nights Diamond. It said it was for Windows?
1) put top of slackbuild ARCH=i486
2) save slackbuild
3) as root put in: . /etc/profile.d/32dev.sh
32 bit mode has "root@darkstar (32bit):"
4) have the slackbuild and package from slackbuilds in same directory and build the package
It should say: "/tmp/libtxc_dxtn-1.0.1-i486-1_SBo.tgz"
5) convertpkg-compat32 -i libtxc_dxtn-1.0.1-i486-1_SBo.tgz
As a result: "Package created: /tmp/libtxc_dxtn-compat32-1.0.1-x86_64-1_SBocompat32.txz"
original neverwinter nights was linux compatible.
I got it working with wine which is enough for me. dont feel like going through extra hoops to get it going.
