http://www.scottbolander.com/mozilla-xft.html Download your flavor of mozilla from 1.4 to 1.7 xft. untar the package ina desired usr directory either ~/HOME, /usr/lib, usr/local, etc... Then all that is required is setting a launcher in your fav desktop and pointing it to the /INSTALL_DIRECTORY/mozilla/mozilla For mail you would do the same launcher pointing except /INSTALL_DIRECTORY/mozilla/mozilla -mail #opens mozilla mail /INSTALL_DIRECTORY/mozilla/mozilla -compose #new mail message Note the xft branding of mozilla includes the fontserver version for extended ttfonts and better GUI viewing... |
You should have a browser and an email client already (I can't imagine that Slax comes without them).
Is your internet connection configured? What kind of connection is it (LAN, dial-up, ADSL, IDSN)? |
I'am trying to install slackware current on a spare computer, but I'am going to use xfce so if someone could help me. I didn't want install everything cause I to keep it small.
My internet is Earthlink DSL. |
Is the modem connected to that computer, or to another comupter on the LAN? My question is, then, are you trying to set up Internet connection sharing from another PC, or are you trying to set up a direct internet connection on that PC?
If the former, then is your network working (can you ping the other PC, etc)? If the latter, what kind of a modem is it (USB, Ethernet, serial)? |
My DSL modem is connected to a Linksys router "Wireless Access Router with 4-port switch" and it is connected to LAN from my computer
|
So your question then is how to set up your network (once your network is set up, if the router is properly configured, it should let you on the Internet without further configuration-- at least this has always happened on my PC).
How far have you gotten with connecting the PC to the existing network? You can find the basic instructions for setting up your network in the Network Configuration section of the Slackware Essentials book. Hope this helps. |
In the "N" area what package do I need?
