go here... http://www.scottbolander.com/mozilla-xft.html
Download your flavor of mozilla from 1.4 to 1.7 xft.
untar the package ina desired usr directory either ~/HOME, /usr/lib, usr/local, etc...
Then all that is required is setting a launcher in your fav desktop and pointing it to the /INSTALL_DIRECTORY/mozilla/mozilla
For mail you would do the same launcher pointing except
/INSTALL_DIRECTORY/mozilla/mozilla -mail #opens mozilla mail
/INSTALL_DIRECTORY/mozilla/mozilla -compose #new mail message
Note the xft branding of mozilla includes the fontserver version for extended ttfonts and better GUI viewing...
I'am trying to install slackware current on a spare computer, but I'am going to use xfce so if someone could help me. I didn't want install everything cause I to keep it small.
Is the modem connected to that computer, or to another comupter on the LAN? My question is, then, are you trying to set up Internet connection sharing from another PC, or are you trying to set up a direct internet connection on that PC?
If the former, then is your network working (can you ping the other PC, etc)? If the latter, what kind of a modem is it (USB, Ethernet, serial)?
So your question then is how to set up your network (once your network is set up, if the router is properly configured, it should let you on the Internet without further configuration-- at least this has always happened on my PC).
How far have you gotten with connecting the PC to the existing network?
