Mounting a floppy
Well, I mount a floppy on my desktop box (slackware 9.0 2.4.21) and copy some files onto the floppy. I then proceed to unmount the floppy. It chugs for a while (I assume writing the files to the floppy)
Anyway, then I remount it just to make sure the files are there (ext2) and everything is peachy. Unmount again. Eject disk. Then I boot bare.i and install.1 and install.2 on my Lexbook SE10 notebook computer. When I mount the floppy using "mount -t ext2 /dev/fd0 /floppy" it mounts just fine. Then when I go to read the floppy there is nothing there. I try to write to the floppy (copying the mkfs.ext2 program to the floppy) I get a read/write error. What is going on? The machine boots the three slackware install floppies just fine. |
How did you originally format the floppy and do the copies?
It almost sounds as if it is an MS-DOS preformatted floppy, and the files are in not being originally put into an ext2 filesystem? |
I used mkfs.ext2 /dev/fd0 on the desktop machine.
I can't get the laptop to use ANY floppy other than the bootable ones for slack. This kinda sucks... huh? |
