Well, I mount a floppy on my desktop box (slackware 9.0 2.4.21) and copy some files onto the floppy. I then proceed to unmount the floppy. It chugs for a while (I assume writing the files to the floppy)

Anyway, then I remount it just to make sure the files are there (ext2) and everything is peachy. Unmount again. Eject disk.

Then I boot bare.i and install.1 and install.2 on my Lexbook SE10 notebook computer. When I mount the floppy using "mount -t ext2 /dev/fd0 /floppy" it mounts just fine.

Then when I go to read the floppy there is nothing there. I try to write to the floppy (copying the mkfs.ext2 program to the floppy) I get a read/write error.

What is going on? The machine boots the three slackware install floppies just fine.

How did you originally format the floppy and do the copies?
It almost sounds as if it is an MS-DOS preformatted floppy,
and the files are in not being originally put into an ext2
filesystem?

I used mkfs.ext2 /dev/fd0 on the desktop machine.

I can't get the laptop to use ANY floppy other than the bootable ones for slack. This kinda sucks... huh?
