links ... doesn't work

let's suppose that i lost my GUI. (some stuppid settings for my video card)
now,i need to see www.linuxquestions.org from my shell. i tried

links www.linuxquestions.org

and i get this error message :

"error loading www.linuxquestions.org . No route to host."

Could u help me ? how can i see web pages if i don't have a graphic interface ?

I've never used Links, so I'm obviously not familiar with that - but you could try Lynx. Never failed me. :) However, I find the "no route to host" error a bit strange...you sure nothing's happened to your network configuration?

network config

what could happend to my network cofiguration ? in the graphic mode i could connect to the www.linuxquestions.org so i don't see what could be the problem with my network configuration. if it works in graphic mode why not in text mode ?

Don't know. That's what I find strange. I don't know if it could be a Links setup issue...can you ping linuxquestions?

Hmm...stupid question here: you HAVE tried writing the URL with http:// in front , right?

lynx http://www.linuxquestions.org

and it doesn't work... the same error message : "unable to connect to remote host."
?

links works fine on my 9.1+current setup, though I only use it when I want to do a root console mode login, which might be a clue and I don't want to risk starting X while root.

You don't say if you can ping www.linuxquestions.org.
