HAL on Slackware 12.1 - Is mine set up correctly?
I have recently upgraded one of my PCs to Slackware 12.1. When I insert a CD or USB device such as a 'memory stick', they are mounted satisfactorily. However, having not seen any formal 'instructions' on the use of HAL, I would like to ask a couple of questions here to check that all is working as it should be:
1.) When I insert a CD or memory stick, I get a window appear on the screen asking what I would like to do, for example 'open in a window'. Is this what should happen?. 2.) This is my FSTAB file: Quote:
Do I still need these in FSTAB when using HAL?. Also, should I 'comment out' the entries for /dev/dvd and /dev/cdrw?. Thanks, Bill. |
I am a little surprised a slacker has yet to get to your questions
1) yes 2) no but it does not hurt. But unless they are mounted you can not navigate to /mnt/(media) so try it either way if you have the time. 3) I strongly suggest you leave the burner entries as they often sym link to the burning group plugdev or similar |
