HAL on Slackware 12.1 - Is mine set up correctly?

I have recently upgraded one of my PCs to Slackware 12.1. When I insert a CD or USB device such as a 'memory stick', they are mounted satisfactorily. However, having not seen any formal 'instructions' on the use of HAL, I would like to ask a couple of questions here to check that all is working as it should be:

1.) When I insert a CD or memory stick, I get a window appear on the screen asking what I would like to do, for example 'open in a window'. Is this what should happen?.

2.) This is my FSTAB file:
Quote:
/dev/hda11 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/hdb7 / ext2 defaults 1 1
/dev/hda5 /ffandtb ext2 defaults 1 2
/dev/hdb8 /var ext2 defaults 1 2
/dev/hdb9 /usr ext2 defaults 1 2
/dev/hda1 /xpc vfat umask=0000 0 0
/dev/hda6 /xpd vfat umask=0000 0 0
/dev/hda7 /xpe vfat umask=0000 0 0
/dev/hda8 /xpf vfat umask=0000 0 0
/dev/hda9 /xpg vfat umask=0000 0 0
/dev/hdb10 /xpk vfat umask=0000 0 0
/dev/hdb5 /xpi ntfs ro 1 0
/dev/hdb6 /xpj vfat umask=0000 0 0
/dev/dvd /mnt/dvd auto noauto,user,rw 0 0
/dev/cdrw /mnt/cdrw auto noauto,user,rw 0 0
/dev/fujicam /mnt/camera vfat noauto,user,rw 0 0
/dev/wdusbdrv /mnt/usbdrv vfat noauto,user,rw 0 0
/dev/corsdrv /mnt/usbflash vfat noauto,user,rw 0 0
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto,owner 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
tmpfs /tmp tmpfs defaults 0 0
/dev/fujicam, /dev/wdusbdrv and /dev/corsdrv are symlinks derived from my custom UDEV rules.

Do I still need these in FSTAB when using HAL?. Also, should I 'comment out' the entries for /dev/dvd and /dev/cdrw?.

Thanks,

Bill.

I am a little surprised a slacker has yet to get to your questions

1) yes
2) no but it does not hurt. But unless they are mounted you can not navigate to /mnt/(media) so try it either way if you have the time.
3) I strongly suggest you leave the burner entries as they often sym link to the burning group plugdev or similar
