However, the Adobe site Test Adobe Shockwave & Flash Players shows that
Adobe Shockwave Player is not installed. What am I missing?

Did you try the Version test for Adobe Flash Player site also? Because the browser of my job workstation became unresponsible from the mentioned site for a little time although I have well working Flash Player, so this can be a more heavy weight site.

Your link is for testing Adobe Flash Player, which is installed;
but mentions nothing about Adobe Shockwave Player.

I have included two screenshots for clarity. Perhaps there is
no difference between Adobe Shockwave Player and Adobe Flash
Player? My browser indicates I have them both installed, but
Adobe indicates that I only have Flash Player installed. And
when I go to Adobe's download link to get Adobe Shockwave Player,
it states "Sorry, your platform is not supported."

Oh, now I see your problem. I have the same results: I have Flash player, but no Shockwave player, because "my platform is not supported". My Flash player works fine and I have not need for Shockwave, anyway.

Shockwave is not the same as Flash. AFAIK, there has never been a Shockwave player for Linux, although I recall using the Windows version on the old Crossover plugin years ago.

Let me Google that for me...

The long and short is that Macromedia coined Shockwave Flash, later changed
it, but Macromedia was bought by Adobe. So now there's only Adobe Flash Player
which plays those files. We don't need Shockware in Linux.

I don't think shockwave is supported on Linux.
