Hi Rita...

Not sure I can help here since I know nothing about Slackware but for those who might, please open a terminal and post the entire results of these commands...

Code:

lsusb
Code:

cat /proc/bus/input devices
Code:

dmesg | grep usb
Code:

lsmod
Thanks! :)

Do this as root to get a more recent kernel for 14.1 and then restart:

slackpkg update gpg
slackpkg update
slackpkg install-new
slackpkg upgrade-all

Check first that you have uncommented a mirror in the /etc/slackpkg/mirrors file, see below "# Slackware64-14.1".

Try different USB ports. It could be, for example, that the USB controller for the front ports hasn't been recognised, while the controller for the ports at the rear, with a different chipset, has.

The following is a bit of a slam, but I honestly do appreciate your desire to help.

While I like to help people, I refrain from posting on Ubuntu threads since I have only a passing acquaintance with that particular distribution. I expect there are at least one or two knowledgeable people who can provide Ubuntu-specific solutions to problems found running Ubuntu on Ubuntu forums. By a happy quirk of fate, there are at least one or two knowledgeable people in the Slackware forums who can provide Slackware-specific solutions to problems found running Slackware.

Hi Richard...

Thank you at least for putting that in a kind, gentle way. I appreciate that. :) :D

@Tory Purga: Welcome to the forum :)
