Slackware64 14.1 KDE

Not sure I can help here since I know nothing about Slackware but for those who might, please open a terminal and post the entire results of these commands...

Try different USB ports. It could be, for example, that the USB controller for the front ports hasn't been recognised, while the controller for the ports at the rear, with a different chipset, has.

The following is a bit of a slam, but I honestly do appreciate your desire to help.
While I like to help people, I refrain from posting on Ubuntu threads since I have only a passing acquaintance with that particular distribution. I expect there are at least one or two knowledgeable people who can provide Ubuntu-specific solutions to problems found running Ubuntu on Ubuntu forums. By a happy quirk of fate, there are at least one or two knowledgeable people in the Slackware forums who can provide Slackware-specific solutions to problems found running Slackware.
