Cool:-) So you only need CDs 1-2 if you're not running KDE? CDs 1-3 for KDE? I'll be installing 12.1 tomorrow, CD 1 is 72% downloaded:-)

If you are a die-hard Slacker and/or just want to support Slackware, please consider making a donation to the project or alternatively to purchase the installation disks instead of downloading them for free. Trust me on this, it feels good to know that your contribution (no matter what the amount) is making a difference.

heh

I just installed 12.0 like a week ago. Guess I'll have to download and upgrade after only one week.

Cheers!

Lucky for some! I'm trying to get the DVD ISO via BitTorrent and it's going to take ~ 50 hours.

I just remember these links posted last year by Alien Bob for Slackware Linux 12.0 release:

ftp://swtsrv.informatik.uni-mannheim...kware-12.1-iso

ftp://inferno.vbi.vt.edu/linux-distr...kware-12.1-iso

Thank you Patrick Volkerding and Crew for your great work!

Thanks very much! Now I don't need to download the entire tree and make the ISO myself. When I looked around earlier, I couldn't find any sites with ISOs, though I didn't look very hard.

The torrents for CDs 1-3 ran pretty fast for me. I installed Slack 12.1 on my laptop and (after a bit of head scratching..) I got everything going (including wireless!) and everything is looking good!
I'll keep the CDs seeding all weekend to help out; and I also ordered a set of CDs from the Slackware store, since I have been using Slack for almost a year now, and I thought I should chip in some support.

i started it last night at about 11pm and it didnt complete till 8am - so it took a bit of time. There were a lot of seeders last night, wonder if a lot of people are doing a "hit and run" download :(

Nylex 05-03-2008 05:18 AM

I will seed the ISO when I get it (well, after I'm done installing!), if I can work out how.

On another note, I'm thankful to Eric Hamleers for his work on the USB and PXE installation, without which I'd not be able to install on my laptop :).
