No console login in centos. How to fix?

I'm getting this exact problem and wondering where I can start looking to troubleshoot and fix the problem so I can login via console:

http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/L..._28078749.html

I can ssh, access all of the web interfaces, etc. - I just don't get a login prompt at the console.

Thanks!

I'd start by checking the content of /etc/securetty; maybe console isn't in there?

console is the first line in the file.

Code:

console
vc/1
vc/2
vc/3
etc....

Where might I look next?

Have you tried all the alternate consoles; ctrl-alt-fN where N= 1,2,3,4,5,6

I'm having similar issues. Systems that have been running fine up to now, don't. I have a few different setups, but all involve RHEL 6. A have a few Sun X4100/X4200 systems. I can ssh to them and work with them fine. An attached mouse/keyboard/monitor works fine until I get into a graphical interface. I have several HP proliant systems. If the OS is running a graphical interface, neither a directly attached monitor or the iLO console interface will work. If I bring it to run level 2, then the consoles work. I haven't figured out a cause yet.
