Lost Password
I installed RedHat Linux on a server about 4 months ago. I planned on getting the server going right away, but then work got in the way. About 2 days ago, I finally found some free time to work on this server and for some strange reason I can't remember my password. I am almost sure I have my username correct, but I don't have the slightest clue as to what my password was.
Is there any way I can recover it without having to reinstall the entire os? I have a legal copy of Linux, and I have all the CDs that came with it, so if someone could let me know about any options I may have, I would appreciate it. Thx. EDIT: Forgot to mention... I've worked with, built, and fixed computers for years, but I'm a total Linux :newbie: :D |
Is it the user password that you can't remember or is it the root password. If you are able to login as root, you can change your users password by doing,
Code:
#password username |
Password reset. I contacted a friend of mine that knows Linux really well, and he was able to help me out. ;)

Ok, glad you got that sorted out.
