The company I worked for took my name out of the code I wrote for them!

A lot of organizations (like where I work) have a clause in the signing contract that says any applications that one develops while at work belongs to the organization.

It's still a bad idea to strip the author's name out of code though. What if maintenance needs to be performed and they need to find out why something was written a certain way or something? How do they know who to talk to?

First they take your freedom, then they take your code.
It is much better to keep your freedom and take their code.

Note: I don't mean stealing code ;) It is just encouragement for people to make code open source.
