is there any easy way to install programs that i'm missing? urmpi?
Hello everyone! i heard there is an easy way to install programs on mandriva rather hten using ./configure or make, etc. Is this true? For instance I just untarded bittorando is there a way for me to easily install this program using mandriva? Thank you! i'm running KDE 3.4, i am a noob. :)
I heard one time this guy just typed in urmpi <name of file> and it installed everything for him, i was wondering if you can do this for all programs? |
You must first configure urpmi database, go to
Code:
easyurpmi.zarb.org Code:
urpmi xxx Or you can go to Code:
rpm.pbone.net |
If you prefer a gui use rpmdrake (see menu->System->Configuration->Packaging) - its a frontend to urpmi. Be a bit careful with rpm.pbone.net to get a package specifically for your distro and remember that you'll have to search and download each and every dependency, whereas urpmi/RPMdrake does it all automatically for you.

OKay I thought i already did configure urpmi but maybe not when i went to that website and copied the code they gave me as root i'm getting this:
medium "jpackage" already exists does that mean its already configured? |
Yes but make sure you have main, contrib, plf-free and plf-nonfree as well. (See menu->System->Configuration->Packaging)
