Cant log into "USER"
Just installed Mandrake 10.1 on my laptop via external USB 2.0 harddrive. Everything installed fine, but when I try to log into user I get an error saying something like 'You don't have access to write to $/home' or something along those lines. How can i fix it so I can log into mandrake using any 'user' login?
Btw, in case anyone is wondering, Mandrake 10.1 is installed on a custom built external usb2.0 hd using a Bytecc case and a 200GB 8MB Cache Western Digital HD (partitioned) that i bought off newegg. Last question, does anyone have any experience adding a FreeBSD entry into LILO? |
you'll have to log in as root and use chown to fix the user directory for the user that doesn't have write access to his ~/
use /etc/lilo.conf -- put in the entry then run lilo to update |
Feel stupid asking, but i've never edited lilo before, so how would the entry look like? How exactly do i type the commands in?

ok, let's start over, then... we'll start with your first problem -- user can't access his home directory.
what user is it? post the response to the following command to this thread: ls -la /home |grep <user> where <user> is the username having problems |
