You obviously do not as you are now blind to the differences that have happened over the last 6 months and how far Mandrake has fallen in the x86_64 arena.

I will still recommend Mandrake to everyone if they are beginners and want to change to a smooth easy operating system that is far the easiest to install, but only if they have 32 bit machines.

Why don't you see for yourself, oh sorry your a member of the Mandrake club, so you have joined the fold. Take pity on all those who cannot afford to waste money for the so called benefits of the Mandrake club.

Normally I would just ignore someone like this, but I have a few points to share before letting this rest. I am not sure whether to take barrythai seriously anymore, especially with the stuff thats in your last post. It seems like he/she is just intent on spreading FUD against Mandriva without getting his/her facts right. barrythai, you are being hard headed here and choosing to ignore what everyone else is telling you. All isos are being released for free soon (both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions), so there is NO NEED TO JOIN THE CLUB (as myself and others have been saying all along).

The network install contains all the packages that are available in the free Mandriva cds which will be available soon, so why would there be any major packages missing unless they are not free software. You are not at the mercy of Mandriva ftp/http servers because, you can choose a mirror and install from there.

If Fedora and Suse are a lot better, then go use them instead of misinforming people when you have not done any background research. Nobody here is a Mandriva salesman, but they are giving you accurate info which you can get yourself by visiting the Mandriva website.

Thank you for your comments and I will be pleased to see a release of the 2006 x86_64 iso so I can test it against the other two leaders.

Meanwhile I will still recommend Mandrake for newbies, but not serious users, that is until I can test the x86_64 under full LAMP and have resolved the x86_64 wireless problem with all distro's.

I will be the first to sing the praises of Mandrake if it can rectify it's Apache php problem under 10.2 and if it succeeds where all others have failed to have a working ndiswrapper on x86_64 or have cards that are not Linuxant that work without paying $20 dollars for a driver.

I also happen to use all three, so know what I am talking about (not talking dribble). I also happen to be a "serious Linux user" but still prefer to use Mandriva and Suse as my main Linux platforms because they are the two distros I know the most even thoguh I have a lot of experience with others. To be honest for someone who is experienced with Linux, any distro will work fine, but we all choose to align ourselves to certain distros because of personal preference and a host of other factors. I have said my piece and letting this rest because I don't want it to descend into an unnecessary slinging match.
