moderator
I am interested to know, how a moderator is selected ?
|
this has been asked a whole bunch in the WS&F forum...
but the answer is that we are asked to. it's a priveldge nor a right, and a decision that can be based on whatever Jeremy, the site admin, feels like at the time. |
More generally, I would think that it is based on some kind of demonstrated knowledge, committment to the cause (Linux and Open Source)...
And an indication that the person has the patience to deal with people like you and me...;) |
you forgot bribes.

Threads of this kind go to WSF, like this one...
|
oooohh....that's what I've been missing. So, how much is needed? :D
This has probably been asked before, but how long had the moderators been here before being asked to be a moderator? Any of you care to share why you got chosen? |
I made this thread because i see that, there is some gurus with more then 8000 post. This is not a small amount. And also some mederator with small amount of post.

The key is for the big boss (Jeremy) to somehow conclude that you are moderator material. A lot of **helpful** posts would likely be one metric that I would use. |
First rule of LQ: there are no rules
Second rule of LQ: following the clearly posted rules will stop you being banned Only when you have fully shown that you can understand the zen of the LQ rules can you be a moderator. Oh, third rule: don't talk about the moderators. Especially don't stare into a mirror at midnight by candlelight and say "moderator" 5 times. :p |
Man, Xavier, that's an awful lot of rules. I'm not sure I can handle that. Does the zen of the LQ rules require a lot of meditation and stuff? I can't sit still very well, there's no way I'll be able to be a moderator. :D
|
And that's why, despite the huge number of members (excellent members, I might add) on LQ, we only have a small handful of mods :)
In short, a good posting history, not being an arse and just being a member without expecting to be a mod are the real qualifications. You need to walk that extremely fine line between getting your noticed on the boards and not being noticed in a negative way. Oh and a brown envelope stuffed full of cash :) A big envelope. |

Don't you worry cs-cam, we've all got our eyes on you......

This makes me wonder what my odds are. But then I realize my nick spells 'sol'.
|
I don't understand. That means you can't be a moderator. Sorry.
