I just wondering if this guy thinks this is a P.O.S. site then why does he keep coming back and complaining about registering?
if ya don't like this site dude don't come to it seems simple enough to me |

You block them without giving any warning whatsoever. This is my main complaint about the registration process. It is exactly what makes the registration process so frustrating. Please consider fix it. |
Throwaway e-mail addresses will continue getting blocked and the reason has been satisfactorily explained. Live with it... nothing's going to change.

So don't use a throwaway account. As Jeremy explained, there are certain sources that are responsible for *large* amounts of spam, and in order to keep LQ orderly, it's effective to block those sources. Is there a non-zero possibility that a legit user might happen to be using one of those services? Yes. But if that person used a different Email address during registration, all of these "frustrations" you keep talking about would disappear. To use an analogy, would it be worth accepting 9999 spam messages in your Inbox just on the chance that maybe message #10000 might be legitimate? I'd say No, and I'd bet you would too.
FWIW, when I signed up at LQ (granted, a couple years ago) I used one of my (free) Yahoo! Email accounts. I encountered exactly zero "difficulties", "frustrations", "problems", or any other kind of negative experience when registering at LQ. (If you don't happen to have a Yahoo! account you can get one for free by going to Yahoo! ) Honestly, it's not that hard, and of course you can always use your ISP Email account, GMail, Hotmail (as Jeremy confirmed above), or any number of other accounts as well if you choose. LQ is a pretty amazing place, and registering under a free Email account is hardly what I'd consider a massive or unsurmountable problem. |
tootsieroll, exactly what kind of accounts do you mean by throw away accounts?
How can these accounts be used to validate a person's identity? |

Since when can you validate a person's identity with any email account? Last time I signed up for one they didn't send the cops over to check my ID :p |
Tootsieroll: stop this now.
@Tootsieroll: your actions again are a point of concern.
LQ offered you a listening ear, hints and instructions in the hope it would help you get over your "issues". You in return *again* started up different discussions about LQ registration matters which I *explicitly* forbade you to do here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...48#post2592348. Now hear this CFB: the LQ registration process, which is like any other, works for thousands of members. LQ is *not* going to change the registration method. If you take note of the hints already offered, you can make it work. I am really sorry to see our help does not seem to get through to you. In one final attempt to turn the tide I'm asking you, and let me put this as bluntly as I can: what can I (by email) help you with to either resolve the issue or get you out of LQ? Because this has got to end and end right now. @all: I ask you to please cease replying to posts he made under whatever different handle he uses for the time being and point him to this post. Thanks in advance. |
