Jeremy has blocked my IP address
and soon he's going to nix my account.
Please FIX the ridiculously ONEROUS registration process. Jeremy KNOWS what I am talking about. Please STOP blocking temporary e-mail services. You are NOT going to sell this P.O.S. site for millions of $. Give it a REST, Jeremy. |
For crying out loud. Take a hint - nobody but you thinks the process is hard. And you registered 3 times or more now so maybe it's not that difficult. If you don't like the way we do things here, don;t post here. Stop rejoining.
Or maybe you think this is fun? Stop it. |
Oh, and despite offers, Jeremy has always said that he will never sell LQ and I have seen no indication that he has changed his mind on this.
|
You have NO IDEA how difficult it is to register an account on this forum.
Why does Jeremy continue to block temporary e-mail services? When he STOPS blocking them, I'll STOP complaining. |
You are under no obligation to register on this site. Jeremy is under no obligation to make it easy for spammers or other malicious types.
Go away. |

I'm not clear on what the purpose of that bugmenot server is and I don't care, but obviously, they perceive a real advantage to themselves in having LQ's cooperation.

I have just had another look at the registration page (having not seen it since 2003), and it would have to be one of the easiest I have ever come across.
Why on earth would bugmenot be useful? It strikes me that it is just a way of spamming sites, and being a complete pain in the arse like the OP. --Ian |
It's useful for pages that require registration (often for a price) before you can access the info - like the New York Times website, for example. Using Bugmenot, you can access the information for free.
No point using it here, ditto with the temporary email addresses the OP wants to use - at LQ, registration is quick and easy, but if your mail bounces a few times your account gets suspended. Seems like the OP needs to spend a little more time securing his box and a lot less time moaning about registering at LQ :) |
I'm using bugmenot for years but it simply doesn't fit for LQ. There is another thread where people have explained why, I agree with them.
"Please FIX the ridiculously ONEROUS registration process." With this, most of the people here will think that you are the ridiculous, whatever private discussion you had with X or Y (which nobody really cares about to be honest). |
What are temporary email services? Does this mean hotmail, etc.?
|
No, he means those anonymous throwaway addresses - similar to hotmail I'll grant you, but hotmail is designed to be a full time account, whereas the temporary ones aren't.
|
FWIW, we don't block hotmail or any of the normal free email services. We do block some throwaway account services, based on the number of spam messages that originate from them. As for me selling the site, it's not going to happen.

A quick clarification on "but if your mail bounces a few times your account gets suspended". You're account doesn't actually get suspended, the system just sets all your email preferences to "No".
