Yep, the subject describes me very well. I've been using Linux, mostly Ubuntu for many years, but have always been lucky to get it installed with no troubles and then go to work. I did learn the apt-get upgrade routine in the terminal, but beyond that, as to the nuts and bolts of Linux, I am clueless. So, I am saying hi and when I post some questions, showing your patience and kindness to this old man is very much appreciated!

Howdy and Welcome.

So I guess you are a "edge of tomorrow" kind of linux user.

Just come here everyday. We will train you.

If impolite or a ingrate. Too bad. So sad. Bye Bye. We are just all volunteers here out of the goodness of our hearts. Have fun. I know I do. I am just a ignorant scooter tramp that runs a computer that runs linux. If I can learn. So can you.

PS The links in my signature are more than just decoration.

Welcome to the forums.

Ask away, but given your experience with Linux, do not fear that perhaps you can teach others some stuff based on your own experiences. :)

Giving your alternatives learning is... I'd like to say "we" decide? :)

There is a good book that is available for free (thanks to the Creative Commons license) in PDF form that can help you become more comfortable with The Linux Command Line http://sourceforge.net/projects/linu...7.pdf/download
