Lightbulb Finally progressing

Greetings all.

I've been using Linux for the better part of 2 years now in an attempt to revitalize my inner geek.

First computer intro was nearly 30 years ago.
First home machine was a 386dx purchased with cash from my very own job.
First computing job was as a freelance Mac-tech.

Intervening years had me fall off of the tech curve.

Was finally able to purchase a machine dedicated to my own use again ~2 yrs ago. Immediately found and installed linux as my primary OS.

First distro was Ubuntu 12.04.

Ended up running a system with 4 different distros and Windows as boot options.

Recently failed at first attempt to install Gentoo.

Now happily running #! as primary OS.

Am playing around with LVM2 & GRUB2 to deepen knowledge.

Next target: Using LVM to set up 2nd VG on machine and install Slackware as 2nd OS on machine.

Current project, see if I can fix the laptop that my lady spilled a beverage on last night.

Next long term goal: Be successful with install of Gentoo on a system utilizing LVM2 and possibly switch over to GPT from MBR.

That completes my freakin' bio that I've decided to say "hi" with.

Seems I got distracted and forgot to complete the thought that I was starting my intro with.

I was going to say that: I'm finally progressing to the point where I will actually need to start asking questions and not just reading forum posts and doing Google searches in order to garner my answers.

And yes, that distraction to my train of thought is precisely why it's taken me this long to get here... that and the fact that my spouse chose to dump a latte on her laptop the other evening. Hence I got to spend part of my non-work time doing some clean up work on it before we even get to the break it open and check the guts time.

I have at least achieved success with making my lady's machine work again. She was too anxious about getting it back for her to allow anything other than the most basic of triage work but I fully intend to break into the box and check out the internals sometime over the next fortnight.
