I too am having this problem. I did a fresh install of Ultimate Edition 4.2. Everything installed correctly and it will connect to the wireless network but won't ever resolve a page. I can open a terminal and ping Google successfully but still no page resolves.
This is the only box on my network with connectivity issues. I have a MacBook Pro, Dell Laptop, Dell Desktop, and they have no problems with connecting or viewing pages.
Is there something wrong with this version of UE? I'm totally new to Linux but am very familiar with Winblows and Macintosh OS's. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
I am using the drivers that came with Ultimate Edition 4.2 Lite. I will try to use Winblows drivers to resolve this. I have noticed that if I use a wired connection it seems to work perfectly. So, with the process of elimination, it would have to be either the drivers for the wireless card or the wireless card itself. I very much doubt that it is wireless card itself as I can use it in a Winblows environment without issue.
I will try using Winblows drivers, Wine, and ndiswrapper. The wireless card that I am using is a Linksys dual band N class. I'm not sure how to make UE display the model of wireless card I have. In Winblows, I would have just looked in Device Manager. I'll have to pull the side panel to see what the exact make and model are and let you know.
The same problem was intermittent in Ubuntu Ultimate Edition 3.8. I would have to disconnect and reconnect repeatedly as the signal would just drop off. The wifi was still connected but no transfer.

I realize that this is an older system but it is being used as a repository for my media (movies, tv shows, music, etc.).
The system that I am using to send my posts and read is a MacBook Air. The Mac works just great without any problems, so that's why I am using it to look for answers. For that matter, I think I have found the problem... it seems to reside with the WMP600N drivers. I've found a website that has some info on it. I'm attempting to follow the instructions. I'll update after I complete the directions.
It would be prudent to establish a wired connection to verify that your computer can connect to the network (that would also narrow the issue with reasonable certainty to the wireless) and also so you have connectivity while you troubleshoot, in case you have to get some packages.
I can connect via a wired connection and have network/ internet access. So via the process of elimination, the cause IS the drivers on the WMP600N as the card functions perfectly in a Winblows environment.
The article link you posted speaks of Gentoo and Debian flavors of Linux. Would these steps also work with Ubuntu Ultimate Edition 4.2?
Thanks in advance for the assistance with this troublesome wifi card.
