Update RH 7 Professional Workstation
 
SO while trying ot update RH after a recent install i got this gay little message. I thought RH was free? since when do i have to have an entitlement to update what i already bought?

Error Message:
Service not enabled for system profile: "silverdot"
Error Class Code: 31
Error Class Info:
This system does not have a valid entitlement for Red Hat Network.
Please visit rhn.redhat.com/network/systems/entitlements .pxt
or login at rhn.redhat .com, and from the "Systems" tab,
select "System Entitlements" to enable RHN service for this system.
Explanation:

Unless it's a simple fix i may just go with a different version of Lunix. Thanks for the help

It used to be, a long time ago, that you had to register for the Red Hat Network to get updates for Red Hat distros. Registration was free, but a survey had to be done once every few months to keep the account alive. They changed all that around Red Hat 9 (the last version of red hat I would ever touch). Even those of us who had paid ($60 per year) RHN accounts lost our accounts, as the distro formerly known as Red Hat Linux went completely commercial, and Fedora Core was born.

I don't know how the RHN works with the profession desktop version, but it sounds like you need to register it. If you paid for it I can't imagine RH charging you for the support account for it. You may need to call them, but I would head to their website and see if there is a place to register that version.
