Ubuntu, tightVNC and XP - how???

I've seen a couple of similar threads (one suggesting getting rid of Ubuntu) but can't find what I'm looking for. I'm trying to get tighvncserver running on ubuntu and access via a viewer on XP. The vnc log contains

Any help would be really appreciated.

Please note that I have taken the h's off of all urls as this is my first post and I'm not allowed to post urls.

Thanks

I have not tried using tightVNC server.

I have used the VNC server that comes with Ubuntu (Vino) . Client side, tightVNC with a box running Windows 98 SE and a portable running Window XP.
