Ubuntu, tightVNC and XP - how???

I've seen a couple of similar threads (one suggesting getting rid of Ubuntu) but can't find what I'm looking for. I'm trying to get tighvncserver running on ubuntu and access via a viewer on XP. The vnc log contains

20/04/06 15:59:55 Xvnc version 3.3.tight1.2.9

Window manager warning: Log level 32: could not find XKB extension.
Option --login is no longer supported in this version of gnome-terminal; you might want to create a profile with the desired setting, and use the new --window-with-profile option

(gnome-terminal:10145): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_accel_label_set_accel_closure: assertion `gtk_accel_group_from_accel_closure (accel_closure) != NULL' failed

Any help would be really appreciated.

Please note that I have taken the h's off of all urls as this is my first post and I'm not allowed to post urls.

Thanks

I have not tried using tightVNC server.

I have used the VNC server that comes with Ubuntu (Vino) . Client side, tightVNC with a box running Windows 98 SE and a portable running Window XP.
