Slackware only one channel of sound?

Ok i upgraded from slackware 9.1 to 10.0 and before this my sound was working perfectly. Now i only have sound coming through one channel.

I have run and re-run alsaconf many times and it goes flawlessly and detects my card and installs it. All volumes are up and theres no obvious balance probs.

I have checked all wiring and tried many different speakers and cables.

Can anyone help me with this debachel?

Thanks for your time,
Scribble

Make sure your programs use alsa and not oss.

I have Slackware 10 and I can play multiple sound files at once, or playing some music and play a game at the same time with sound

EDIT: Uh wait.. one channel as in one speaker?

I had the same problem (I had sound only in my headphones output)

Delete the /etc/asound.state
Run alsaconf again and set up your soundcard.
run alsamixer again to set volumes
run alsactl store
That was all I needed to do =)
Good luck...

Yep just one speaker.

I tried removing the asound and running everything again but that had no effect..

Strange...did alsaconf find your card?
Is your card the default in alsamixer?

Everything worked fine when I rm /etc/asound.state before I ran alsaconf again...I have soundblaster live 5.1 and Slack 10

Alsa config runs smooth as , detects my card to the T and the mixer also shows all the cards details so i know thats using it fine. Im completely stumped on this one
