I am new to linux and am trying to migrate from Win2K, and I am having problems with going into X (I am really new to linux).
:newbie: I am just wondering if anyone knows of any major probs with any of these components, I have looked and cant find any, but maybe I am missing something. This is the setup that I have: AMD 1000Mhz Thunderbird Asus A7V (with the onboard promise controller) 768MB PC-133 2 WD 20GB drives 1 WD 15GB drive VooDoo 3 2000 AGP SOund Blaster Live Value Thunderlink PCI modem DVD Decoder (dont care if it works just if it has problems) Netgear FA-310X NIC Zip Drive 1.44 CD-RW CD-ROM MS Natural KB MS Optical USB wheel mouse w/ps/2 converter attached |
hmmmmmm.....
can i have you putor please!!!!!!
everything looks a bit good so i don't see why you're having probs. What exactly is wrong? you might have difficulty getting the pci modem to work. go to www.linuxdoc.com and look at the hardware-Howto and check things there. Alex |
are you trying slackware 7.1? if so you shouldn't have any problems with your voodoo 3 2000 agp card to work under X.
if your having problems with X, in which my slackware box did right after installation, all i did was run xf86config again to get it working right. not sure why but slackware did that a few times for me, in which installing, i would always have to go back and reconfigure X to work right. |
Just a bit of advice....if you want real help resolving your problem, an actual explaination of what you are getting would be helpful...."I am having problems getting into X" can cover a LOT of problems...
