I am new to linux and am trying to migrate from Win2K, and I am having problems with going into X (I am really new to linux).

:newbie:

I am just wondering if anyone knows of any major probs with any of these components, I have looked and cant find any, but maybe I am missing something.

This is the setup that I have:

AMD 1000Mhz Thunderbird
Asus A7V (with the onboard promise controller)
768MB PC-133
2 WD 20GB drives
1 WD 15GB drive
VooDoo 3 2000 AGP
SOund Blaster Live Value
Thunderlink PCI modem
DVD Decoder (dont care if it works just if it has problems)
Netgear FA-310X NIC
Zip Drive
1.44
CD-RW
CD-ROM
MS Natural KB
MS Optical USB wheel mouse w/ps/2 converter attached

everything looks a bit good so i don't see why you're having probs. What exactly is wrong?

you might have difficulty getting the pci modem to work. go to www.linuxdoc.com and look at the hardware-Howto and check things there.

are you trying slackware 7.1? if so you shouldn't have any problems with your voodoo 3 2000 agp card to work under X.
if your having problems with X, in which my slackware box did right after installation, all i did was run xf86config again to get it working right. not sure why but slackware did that a few times for me, in which installing, i would always have to go back and reconfigure X to work right.

Just a bit of advice....if you want real help resolving your problem, an actual explaination of what you are getting would be helpful...."I am having problems getting into X" can cover a LOT of problems...
