pure-ftpd connection problem
I'm currently running Gentoo Linux and I just installed a Pure-ftpd server. I configured and started the server with no extra options. When I try to connect to the server once I put my password in it just disconnects me and says connection closed by remote host. I've tried logging in using my linux account, root, and anonymous... none work. I also made sure that my shell is in the /etc/shells file which is what had caused me to have this problem in the past.
I then recompiled the program using virtual users and the same problem occurred. I tried all of this with two different versions of the software including the newest 7a release. I'm not sure what else to try, anyone have any suggestions. Thanks! |
If your trying to connect to this FTP server remotely, then it's very possible this could be a NAT/firewall issue. The initial FTP connection is made on port 21 which I presume you have already forwarded.
After the login phase, passive FTP will negotiate another port to talk on. You may need to adjust settings in this FTP server and/or your firewall/NAT device. Try connecting to the ftp server locally, or even try connecting to it via the server itself. If your certain this is not a firewall/nat issue, perhaps try another FTP server. Regards, Erik |
