problems mounting audio CDs
Hi All,
I have a question that may be very stupid. I am running JAMD linux based on RedHat 9.0 and I have a problem mounting Audio CDs. I can mount ISO formatted image disks no problem, but if I insert an Audio CD i get a "/dev/cd-rom does not exist" message. I know it might have to do something with symbolic links and autodetection, but what gives? Thanks a lot ElRorro |
don't try to mount it is useless, just open xmms or you software(kscd,ascd,etc...) and play it

not that simple?
I've got Debian and it utterly refuses to admit that there's a CD in the drive.
How can I use XMMS to play a CD that the computer doesn't know is there? |
Goto Options--Preferences on xmms right-clic menu; First tab (must be something like Audio I/0 plugins, mine is in galician :) ), look at CD-Audio player plugin, activate it. Clic on "configure" that plugin and indicate xmms where is your CD-Audio (/dev/dvd ; /dev/cdrom; /dev/hdd; /dev/cdrecorder...)
|
still doesn't work, it was already configured correctly, do you think I need a different plugin??
|
If you've got CD-Audio Player plugin you just have the plugin you need...
Are you able to play audio CDs using another program, something like kscd or the gnome audio player? If not two things may be wrong: 1.- The source device for CDaudio is not well configured (i men, if that device is named /dev/cdrom1 you cannot put /dev/cdrom...) 2.- The cable from CD/DVD device to your soundcard is not installed (in some cases you couldn't play audio CDs because of that). hope it helps you (sorry, my awful english sucks) |
