Problem with NV-GLX

I'm using Mandrake 8.2

Okay, earlier tonight, I installed the nVidia drivers so I could get my GeForce 2 to get the best 3D acceleration.

Anyway, after I installed them, I restarted X, and everything ran fine, but when I ran a program that uses 3D acceleration, it ran fine for a second or two, then the screen would glitch a bit and my system would lock up.

I went back over the installation instructions, made sure I made all the correct changes the XF86Config-4, and I couldn't find any problems.

Then, I ran 'xdpyinfo', and it listed NV-GLX twice. I then looked in XFree86.0.log (in /var/log), and it shows that NV-GLX was in fact loaded twice.

Now, I'm wondering if that is the cause of my problem, and if it is, how I can go about fixing it.

`grep XF86Config-4 -e glx`, because there it should be loaded *once*.

I have had problems like this with my GF2 as well, but it had to do with the AGP setting in the BIOS.

If I set it to 2x or 4x, my system sometimes locks up during a game. So now I just keep it at 1x =(

I suspect the actual cause is the VIA chipset on my motherboard.

Btw, I had the same problems in Windows.
