did you make the partition bootable? if you have more than 1 hard drive, did you set the BIOS to boot to the hard drive with slackware on it?
|
nadroj is correct. That is the message you get if none of the drives are bootable. I wiped the hard drives of some 386 computers at work that we were getting rid of, and that is the message displayed after I wiped NT from the drives.

I have also gotten that when the ide cable was loose

thanks for replay i've put hda1 linux swap and hda2 bootable
i enter the setting and let the system boot from the harddrive its given the same msg. do i need to make linux swap if im not useing 2 operating system? do i need to install them all if i did not make a bootable for hda2? |

how can i set the BIOS to boot hard drive to slackware
|
which partition is the bootable one? hda2? just set the partition with slackware on it to bootable with fdisk/cfdisk; not the swap partition.
also, do you only have 1 hard disk? if so then the BIOS should default to this hard disk.. but if not then look around in the BIOS. there should be a startup or bootup priority menu or something similar. just set the second (if the cd drive is first)boot device to the hard drive with slackware on it. |
i'll do it now i think my misstake when i did the partation i have put the hda1 linux swap on bootable
