i have install the slackware 10.2 when it finsh the installation i've remoed the cd and press ctrl alt delete pc been restarted but after finshing reading the ram it say
Error loading operating system and im sure i have install cd1 and 2 anyidea ?
nadroj is correct. That is the message you get if none of the drives are bootable. I wiped the hard drives of some 386 computers at work that we were getting rid of, and that is the message displayed after I wiped NT from the drives.
which partition is the bootable one? hda2? just set the partition with slackware on it to bootable with fdisk/cfdisk; not the swap partition.
also, do you only have 1 hard disk? if so then the BIOS should default to this hard disk.. but if not then look around in the BIOS. there should be a startup or bootup priority menu or something similar. just set the second (if the cd drive is first)boot device to the hard drive with slackware on it.
did you make the partition bootable? if you have more than 1 hard drive, did you set the BIOS to boot to the hard drive with slackware on it?
The bootable flag is irrelevant, it is only used by DOS/Windows mbr code. None of my drives have this flag set. The default boot drive is set in the BIOS, and the code in the mbr reads the partition table.
Are you sure you installed lilo to the mbr? The default is to install to the root partition.
