Partitioning first?
Do you need to partition the HD before installing linux?
Just asking due to no matter if I use an old linux that I have or if I download and burn one I can not get my PC to boot it. I tell it to manually boot from CD, and have tested the drive with windows CD and that booted fine so I know it is not the drive. |
Something is wrong with the burned CD, as the partitioning can be done during the installation, and if one CD boots they should all boot.

did you install a boot loader like LILO or GRUB?

Did you create a "disk image" or copy an .iso file to the cd. The latter will never never work. |
