Mouse and Keyboard stopped working after xserver/kde update

I'm using Slackware current, and yesterday I decided to run an upgrade since I was having some issues with kde that I expected to have solved with the new version.
But instead of that, my mouse and keyboard stoped working. They work normally outside of X, but as soon as I startx, they stop working.

here are some info that might be useful.

I guess you have to copy /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/10-keymap.fdi to /etc/hal/fdi/policy/, restart hald and restart X.

Tried without success.
I've added:
Option "AutoAddDevices" "false"
to my xorg.conf as an workaround, this made it to work, but I guess I still have to find a way out of using HAL.

Thanks for the help

I have just updated my Gentoo system and have the same problem. Pressing the Reset button is the only way out.

I tried the remedy above to no effect.
Xorg.0.log has the following:
Code:

(II) LoadModule: "mouse"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input//mouse_drv.so
(II) Module mouse: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
        compiled for 1.5.3, module version = 1.4.0
        Module class: X.Org XInput Driver
ABI class: X.Org XInput driver, version 2.1
(EE) module ABI major version (2) doesn't match the server's version (4)
(II) UnloadModule: "mouse"
(II) Unloading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input//mouse_drv.so
(EE) Failed to load module "mouse" (module requirement mismatch, 0)
(EE) No input driver matching `mouse'
(II) LoadModule: "kbd"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input//kbd_drv.so
(II) Module kbd: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
        compiled for 1.5.3, module version = 1.3.2
        Module class: X.Org XInput Driver
ABI class: X.Org XInput driver, version 2.1
(EE) module ABI major version (2) doesn't match the server's version (4)
(II) UnloadModule: "kbd"
(II) Unloading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input//kbd_drv.so
(EE) Failed to load module "kbd" (module requirement mismatch, 0)
(EE) No input driver matching `kbd'

It looks like the mouse and kbd modules got left behind.
How do I fix it???

bathory 11-06-2009 04:12 PM

Hi,

Your problem is not the same as the OP:
Quote:

(EE) module ABI major version (2) doesn't match the server's version (4)
I guess you have to rebuild the keyboard and mouse drivers for your new xorg-server version.

Regards
