"Missing Operating System" (vmware)
I installed vmware and everything booted up well. Then i did fdsik and created a 4 gig virtual drive. Fdisk told me to restart so i did. When i start up the virtual drive again... it says
"Missing Operating System" does anyone know how to get past this? thx in advance |
Do you have a CD in the drive (or a CD image captured by the VM)?

yes, i have win98 SE cd in the drive...

Just like any other computer system. You need to set the BIOS to boot from the setup disk or in your case the CD-ROM.
|
well it does boot from the cd rom the first time... but after i went into fdisk and created a primary drive. It wouldn't even start the bios saying "missing operating system" any ideas? i appreciate the help

ahh i got it fixed, i needed to put in a bootable floppy instead of a bootable cd.. wierd how computers play wit ya sometimes
|
VMware can boot from CD-ROM. You need to go in its bios and change the order of boot devices.
