Lost pane, issues when creating alias from the bash shell

Hi,

I have recentley taken a using Redhat course and have come across a couple orf issues which i cannot resolve. I have Redhat 9 installed on my PC

1) I have lost the Pane (taskbar) at the bottom of my screen and am unable to retrieve it. If i log in as root it is fine, but logged in as myself it does not appear. I have managed to set up a smaller pane with the Redhat icon showing, if i right click i dont get all options such as Properties as i do logged in as root.

2) I tried to set up an alias in the bash shell for the "rm" command to ask me to confirm if i wanted to remove the file, it should ask me for confirmation with Y/N. When i type alias it shows up as the correct alias but when typing "rm" in the shell it just removes the file without any confirmation

I would appreciate any input.

Thank you

Spoult

rm -i will run rm in interactive mode (ask for confirmation).

In re the system tray, are you sure you didn't just click the arrow at the left end and roll up the tray? If so, just click the arrow again to open the tray.

Hi bigrigdriver

Thank you for getting back to me. Regarding the "rm" command issue.this is now sorted due to me putting one to many spaces in.
The "pane" issue is a pain as i do not have any arrows to click. I have the Redhat icon, mozilla browser on my pane at the moment. At one stage i did not have anything. These have been added by me. I could just set another account up for myself but i would like to know how to solve this issue. When i minimize a window it disappears to the bottom of the screen, which is normal but it is not on the pane i have setup, which makes me think the original pane is still running off screen.
Do you have any further suggestions.

Thanks for your time

Regards

Spoult
