IRC scripting and integration with Firefox

I'm not sure how easy it would be to accomplish something like this, but I thought I'd ask here and see if anyone has any ideas.

For anyone familiar with wikis or Wikipedia, I'm trying to get something that will load each change made by an anonymous user in a new Firefox tab as they are made. There is an IRC channel (#enrc.wikipedia on freenode) that lists all the recent changes as they occur. Basically, I need to parse these, figure out the URL of the change, and load it in a new browser window. Alternatively, there is a web page that does the same (lists recent changes). Someone has posted a "script" here that can be used on mIRC to accomplish this, but it seems to be some kind of scripting language specific to mIRC. Does anyone know how I could accomplish this using Linux, Firefox, and Chatzilla/Xchat/BitchX as opposed to Windows, IE, and mIRC?

Thanks in advance.
