gaim supports yahoo. You can also download the ymessenger that yahoo offers for *nix variants.

I have no suggestions about gaim but I can suggest getting (I think) Ychat for Windows because it was built to run through Wine. I have it working and it works good through Wine.

Yahoo had a chat client for Linux long ago, they had never updated that rpm since then. If any onewould like to open an petition on http://www.petitiononline.com please post it on the forums later, I'd like to support.

Yahoo should know many ppl had move to linux now.. :D

Use Zinc or Curphoo, both work fine in yahoo chat
(though with new install of slack, having trouble with color not being called.. )

But thats a ncurses problem.. not the clients

My gaim connects to yahoo pretty well. You have to change the server address of Yahoo to this --> scs.msg.yahoo.com

It seems Yahoo changed their address!!!

Ya thanx zinc works ok ..but all-text mode :(
Curphoo I cudnt find a sufficiently new version that uses new YMSG protocol.

Managed to get a patch for gyach..Hope to make it run..
Thanx anyway..

Hi Ultimaguy
Your info is correct.Sometime back using scs.msg.yahoo.com was the trick.
But _NOW_ its all complicated ..doent work for *CHAT* (not IM)
Are you able to go to chatrooms using Gaim now?

btw Gaim-0.75 does this server setting for you, automatically.
adios

If you have java support in your web browser you can use the built in java chat that yahoo provides.
