Cant really get winex to work
I installed WineX.. downloaded it from transgaming. Anyways, It's all installed and stuff, but I dont know how to set it up to work. When I type winex in the terminal it says that it's an unknown command. How do I go about using it? I also installed wine and it doesnt seem to work. I've tried running things in it and they dont do anything.
I'm a total noob so very detailed explanations of things would be appreciated. Thanks. |
there are very good howto's in winehq.org and frankscorner.org. this should be able to help you out.

how did you install these files, rpm or tarball?
and how did you go about installing these files? when you got winex, was it CVS version? if so, did you type winex or wine at prompt? |
download the tarball from winehq. i tried to use the cvs and it wasn't that great.
to use it use the command wine <program path>.exe |
I recommend buying winex from transgaming, rather than downloading the cvs and building it yourself. Most people run into problems with this.

I did buy it from transgaming, I downloaded and installed the RPM file, so it's on my system, I just cant seem to run it.

"winex3" is the script installed in /usr/bin to run winex, assuming you downloaded the most recent version. Use "winex3 /mnt/cdrom/setup.exe" (or whatever executable) to launch programs with winex.
