linux installation by ILO 2
Hi
OS =oracle enterprise linux 5.4(64bit) serever =HP DL380 G5 I didn't attach any monitor and keybord to that server and i tried to install linux on graphic mode on this linux by ilo2 ..but it is impossible to install linux on graphic mode and only text mode is possible! but when i attach a monitor to the server all things work correctly. What is my problem! |

How exactly are you installing? Using physical CD/DVD in the servers CDROM drive? Mounting the CD/DVD on the iLO over the network? If you're only using the iLO to monitor the progress, then that's fine but if you are, on the other hand, installing the complete OS over the network by iLO, then you can expect a lot of latency and failures. We have several systems with iLO (HP) and DRAC (Dell) that we have installed Windows, and Linux via and have not had any problems.
I would make sure that you have the iLO and system updated to the latest firmware. That is where I have seen issues more often than not. |

I have had installs over the wan in various countries go just fine. I guess this is one of those your mileage may vary instances.
