on access anti-virus
 
Hi folks, can anyone recommend an on access anti-virus. for ubuntu jaunty.

I have tried bit defender, (good, but no on access), avast good too, i read somewhere, that it has on access bit. anyone know how to turn it on?

I use ClamAV and F-Prot, but only because I like to play with malware. I don't know if they have on-access capability.

However, anti-virus on Linux is a lot less important than on Windows. Not only is the vast majority of malware written for Windows, Linux is designed to make common sense actually count for something (user and application permissions, user account controls, etc).

Linux + common sense = no need for anti-virus.

Well I agree. My linux boxes, are connected to 2 windows boxes, so the chance is there. Also I get a few bit and bobs, from what you mught call dodgy sites. Ok I could just scan the download directery, but on access would be nice. Pure lazyness! ;) cheers though.
