CPU vs GPU hash speeds

Hi all

Thought I'd try here as it is security related.

I've read a few articles and I know there is a HUGE difference on how fast a GPU can process hashes vs a CPU...but my question is:

1. Does anyone know of a decent website which holds a decent database of comparison for different GPU's/CPU's?

I'd like to see at which point the GPU overtakes the CPU, for example comparing an old/basic GPU vs top of the range CPU. Just to get a better understanding.

I can then also compare my speeds vs these to make sure I am getting similar speeds, to ensure there are no odd driver issues etc slowing things down.

For example (old hardware I know)

Desktop PC - Nvidia GeForce GT630, i7 8 core @ 2.67Ghz on WPA2 hash with 8 char keyspace l-alpha
GPU

It's hard to compare different coin types. As far as I know bitcoin uses a different algorithm then f.e. litecoin uses. So they are not really comparable but the site should give a decent ballpark on deciding what to use or buy. Though if you want to start on bitcoin think about buying a dedicated hardware for mining. Dont use GPU or even CPU. Compare to the dedicated hardware they just suck way. Litecoin and Feathercoin are a different approach. You just have to dig some.

Ah okay. Then the numbers should hold true. Just for the fun amazon also has some instances with dedicated gpu's.
