and, in case you didn't really want to buy a book, but wanted something you could look through at your leisure as a .pdf or print out (and, because I've never answered a LQ question with an answer that can be sung to the Robin Hood theme before) and, as you said, in depth:

If you are looking for a dead-tree version of an iptables book, I would suggest Linux Firewalls.
